Apologies for the inactivity yesterday, I was busy outside of the computer (shocking, isn’t it). I hadn’t had time to work on the vector, so there really was nothing to update everyone on. To make it up to everyone, I finished the vector today. I’m not very satisfied by the background, but it’s still complete.

Dragonfly Vector Completed

A larger version can be found on my DA.

The whole experience in Illustrator was fun, and all the lines I drew were smooth, courtesy of the Pen tool. My favourite tool is still the Mesh, even though I can’t use it like the professionals do. I’ll learn eventually!

I don’t have much other comment on this. I’ve got another skill under my belt, I’ll be looking for another thing to vector. Some day soon, I hope, I can import or draw this live onto Flash and animate it. However, I’ll be posting on this blog with more vector attempts, and some graphic/photomanipulation works. For your interest, I’ll throw in a few things I learnt during the process, or show WIPs on larger projects.

    Very nice result.

That coffee cup (by the professional) was actually created in Illustrator? Wow.

Oopy: If I use my main to put up samples, I don’t think anyone really wants to see a dragonfly, it doesn’t show what they want…
Frederick: Yeah, the coffee cup was done using the Mesh tool. Almost all of the artist’s gallery is vector mesh done on Illustrator.
